35 JSSDT members and friends attended the opening night of Art San Diego 2010 at the Hilton Bayfront on Thursday, September 2.  Artist Keiko Sugiyama personally met with our guests and explained her beautiful washi (Japanese paper) dress designs.  The event included tray-passed hors d’oeuvres and fine wine tastings.  

Celebrate the end of a great year for the Japan Society of San Diego and Tijuana at Mingei Museum in Balboa Park.  Delicious Japanese food and lots of fun!  Get the Holiday Season started by sharing an evening of social exchange and networking.

The Japanese American Citizens League (JACL) of San Diego, together with the Japanese Historical Society of San Diego (JAHSSD) and San Diego Film Foundation (SDAFF), invite you to a free outdoor screening of the Japanese romantic comedy, "Shall We Dance."  Collecting more than 50 awards and nominations around the globe, this original film prompted the U.S. re-make.

Orchestra Nova invites the JSSDT members and friends to Vivaldi's The Four Seasons paired with its passionate tango “twin” by the Argentinian Astor Piazzola – plus Vivaldi's Concerto for Four Violins.

The Japanese-Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) is an internationally accredited language examination that is offered in five different levels, designed to measure a person's Japanese-language skills.

The San Diego Asian Film Festival is one of the largest exhibitions of Asian international and Asian American cinema in North America. Along with narrative features, the Festival also showcases documentaries, short films, and animation. The Festival is competitive, offering awards in various categories and cash prizes for filmmakers.

JSSDT will co-present Japanese and Japan related films during the festival. 

The JSSDT, along with several other Japan-related organizations, will offer lunch service to senior citizens residing in and near KIKU Gardens in Chula Vista.

Over 350 people attended DrumSTRONG3 at The Neurosciences Institute Auditorium on Friday, August 6.  Sponsored by the Japan Society, the concert featured drumming, singing, and dancing by LeiIsa and San Diego Taiko, who thrilled the sold-out crowd with dynamic, energetic, and exciting performances.
